Different Odors Must Be Handled Differently

      • Bad odors are caused by different sources.

      •
Effective neutralization of an odor problem requires a specific
approach designed for that source of that odor.

      •
When you determine the odor source, use the appropriate AirSept
products for that type of odor.

Organic Odors and Chemical Odors

      • Organic Odors: By-products of the growth of bacteria and other
microorganisms. (Examples include odors from mildew, sour milk,
         urine, etc.)

      • Chemical Odors: Microscopic particles of some chemical that has
deposited on a surface. If the particles are light enough that they
can float up in the air, we then can smell them. (Examples include
tobacco smoke, and the sulfur particles that result from the
chemical reaction that occurs when someone lights a match.)

Identifying Odor Sources

Determining If You Have an Air Conditioning System Odor
      Problem

If you smell an offensive odor ONLY when you turn on the air
conditioning, then you have an Air Conditioning System Odor. This
organic odor is usually described as a musty or mildewed or ‘stale
      air’ smell.

Determining If You Have an Interior Odor Problem

Interior odors are fairly easily identified: you will smell the odor as
soon as you open the door or enter the vehicle or room, before the
      air conditioning is turned on.

Determining If You Have Both an Air Conditioning System
Odor AND a Vehicle Interior Odor

If you notice an odor when you first enter the vehicle, and the odor
gets stronger when you turn on the your air conditioner system,
then it is entirely likely that you have an odor source in the air
conditioning system and an odor source in the vehicle interior. Both
of these are, of course, organic odors.

Determining If You Have a Tobacco Odor Problem

Tobacco odors are perhaps the easiest odors to identify: it smells
like someone has been smoking! It is the proteins in tar and nicotine
resin that cause tobacco odor, an odor that can linger a long time in
the closed environment of a vehicle, office, or home. Tobacco odors
      are chemical in origin.

Odors That Are Caused by Unpleasant Fragrances

Many times, people complain about unpleasant fragrances that are
used in cleaning or air-freshening products. These fragrances are
also chemical in origin. AirSept's products are not designed to
neutralize  these types of fragrances. The only thing that will solve
these chemical odors is time. Over time, the offending odor will
simply dissipate as the molecules (chemicals) that cause them break
      down.
